Damjan Stamcar is a senior innovation executive and technology strategist with over 30 years of corporate leadership experience across Europe and Japan, supported by a trusted international network of founders, investors, researchers and senior executives spanning 21+ countries. Currently serving as Principal Technology Analyst at Sony Europe Limited in Düsseldorf, he leads technology scouting, open innovation and strategic research partnerships for one of the world's most recognised technology corporations.
In his current role, Stamcar identifies breakthrough technologies across emerging domains — including sound, haptics, AR/VR/XR, materials science, sensors, sustainability and robotics — and builds strategic frameworks for open innovation to bring them into the corporate pipeline. He manages the Corporate Research Award Program for Europe, a flagship initiative that forges long-term partnerships between world-class universities, research institutes and Sony's global R&D teams. He is also collaborating closely with the Sony Innovation Fund — bridging technology scouting with investment pipeline development and contributing technical context to early-stage due diligence.
A recognised public voice for Sony, Stamcar has represented the corporation before international media, governments and audiences at the world's most influential technology stages — including CES Las Vegas, IFA Berlin, MWC Barcelona, SLUSH Helsinki and Web Summit Lisbon. He lectured at different University/Industry events on academic engagement models and research partnerships to initiate cross domain collaborations.
Before moving into his current innovation strategy role, Stamcar spent over a decade leading product marketing and technical management for Sony Mobile's flagship consumer portfolio across Central Europe, serving as official corporate spokesperson for German and international broadcast media. He began his career at Ericsson in Düsseldorf (1996–2002), where he worked as a Network Administrator and System Engineer across GSM/UMTS environments.
A serial intrapreneur, Stamcar has been recognised internally as an Idea Owner and Business Developer within Sony's Seed Acceleration Program, and mentors student and startup teams through the XABC University-Industry Challenge at TU and h_da Darmstadt.
Stamcar studied Electrical Engineering (Telecommunications) at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. He is a native speaker of German and Slovenian, fluent in English, and conversational in Spanish. He holds 4 international patents spanning biometric authentication, blockchain photography, vehicle IoT systems and edge computing.
His personal philosophy — ancora imparo, "I am still learning" — reflects a lifelong commitment to curiosity, growth and the belief that the most valuable leaders are those who never stop asking questions.
